In Nanning!

Hi Everybody,
 
We left Beijing today and flew to Nanning.  We were rather sorry to say good-bye to "George", our tour guide/concierge/translator/Mandarin tutor (how's that for titles).  George (28 yr old from Beijing) is a great friend - after only knowing him for 3 days.  What a great help he was to us - and added a lot to my Mandarin vocabulary, too!  We learned that, like in geographical parts of the US, Beijing has "their own version" of Mandarin....they change some words around and add certain sounds that are not in the spelling.  During our flight check-in at the airport today, George was telling me how to say "a little bit" (yi di-ar, di-ar) and a lady from Hong Kong corrected me, "No, it's 'yi di-an, dian". I was caught in the middle.  Like two Americans fighting over whether to call it "soda", "pop", or "Coke".  Robin and I got a good chuckle from it...
 
Okay - today's big news - we flew on an Air China B737 from Beijing to Nanning.  It was a very good flight (3.5 hours).  We collected our bags and were immediately met by our local rep and guide - "CiCi".  CiCi took us to our hotel and joined us for dinner (at Pizza Hut).  Robin asked me to add, "We were ready for some pizza after 3 days of kung pao chicken!"  CiCi told us that she'll pick us up tomorrow at 3pm and take us to the Lottery Hotel, where we will get Noah!  There will be a 30-minute "social", in which we and 7 other families will meet their new children and "pal around"...then we can leave and return to our hotel (the Nanning Marriott).  Paperwork will follow, then a few days off while we wait for Noah's new passport.
 
Sorry, no pictures to post tonight. We'll try to catch up tomorrow, perhaps before we go to get Noah.  Simply too exhausted (again) to get the pictures off the camera.  Thanks again for your prayers.  Have a great Sunday afternoon - as we press into Monday here.
